Evidence levels

Not every page has the same proof yet. I treat official specifications, manufacturer documentation, online availability, and category comparison as source-backed evidence. I only treat a claim as hands-on evidence when it is supported by original use notes, photos, video, measurements, or test logs.

The scoring priorities

Every pick is judged around practical buying factors: cutting power, usable swath, line-feed design, weight, vibration, fuel or battery logistics, maintenance, serviceability, brand support, and whether the tool fits commercial-style work.

What matters most

  • Cutting power: engine size or battery output only matters if it helps in real weeds.
  • Line feed: a great trimmer head saves more frustration than most buyers expect.
  • Weight and balance: a few pounds matter after long trimming sessions.
  • Runtime and refueling: gas refuels fast; battery tools need a charging plan.
  • Fit: a landscaper, acreage owner, and weekend user do not always need the same machine.

Hands-on proof I want on each review

  • Original product photos or short video from actual use.
  • Loaded weight and balance notes with fuel or battery installed.
  • Line reload timing and head behavior notes.
  • Runtime or fuel-use checks on maintained grass and heavier growth.
  • Noise, vibration, starting, and fatigue observations after trimming.

How the site will improve over time

The long-term plan is to replace thin proof with stronger proof: more first-hand notes, original photos, runtime checks, line-loading observations, and product comparisons. When a guide is updated, the recommendation should become more useful, not just newer-looking.
