Gas still makes sense for crews and property owners who need long runtime, fast refueling, and a tool any small-engine shop can understand. If your day is unpredictable, a fuel can is easier to manage than a half-charged battery pile.

Choose battery if noise and starts matter

Battery trimmers start with a trigger pull, run quieter, and avoid exhaust. That matters near homes, schools, offices, and early accounts. The catch is planning: you need enough batteries and charging speed to finish the work.

My quick rule

If you’re trimming hard all day with no predictable charging window, start with gas. If you can plan battery swaps and you value quiet, clean operation, look hard at commercial battery models.
